Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Scientist for the User Sciences Practice to conduct UX usability research across consumer electronics, medical devices, wearables, and AI applications. Based in Phoenix, you will join a team of scientists and engineers to deliver rigorous, actionable insights for clients.

You will design studies, collect and analyze data, and clearly communicate findings to diverse stakeholders while supporting business development and traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Developmental, Experimental, or Cognitive Psychology, Neuroscience, Vision Science, Data Sciences, Biomechanics, or related field.
• Based in the Phoenix area or willing to relocate there.
• Willingness to travel (10-20%) for sessions and meetings.
• Experience conducting human subjects research with diverse or specialized populations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review literature, data, and standards to ground research and inform study design and analysis.
• Design and execute primary user research studies: usability testing, surveys, interviews, observations.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis including statistics and thematic analysis.
• Provide project management for multiple projects, including budgets and deadlines.
• Prepare written reports and clearly communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Develop client contacts and assist with business development and proposals.
• Occasionally travel 10-20% for research sessions or meetings.
