Job summary

Duke Energy invites motivated students to join its UX Design Summer Internship within the Information Technology organization. You will collaborate with UX designers, product teams, developers, and business stakeholders to craft intuitive, accessible digital experiences for employees and customers.

Gain hands‑on experience, work across cross‑functional teams, and develop practical skills in user research, prototyping, and design thinking in a real enterprise setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum cumulative GPA requirements are not provided in the HTML.
• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in UX Design, HCI, Graphic Design, Product Design, Psychology, Economics, Information Science, CS, or related field.
• Valid driver’s license and eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Recent internship experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct user research and gather customer insights.
• Create personas, journey maps, and experience maps.
• Develop spec‑driven prototypes by writing specifications and requirements gathering.
• Participate in usability testing and user feedback sessions.
• Support design thinking workshops and innovation initiatives.
• Contribute to product design and digital experience improvements.
• Learn about accessibility, inclusive design, and UX best practices.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to solve complex business and technology challenges.
• Network with peers, mentors, and senior leaders across the organization.
