UTS - Temporary Facility Maintenance Technician at NC State
The primary responsibility of this position is to perform maintenance and cleaning related to campus parking facilities. This role supports the Facilities Maintenance team by handling parking signage, lot, and deck upkeep.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repair, replace, install, and remove campus parking, regulatory, and special event signs. Set up and take down signage for special events.
- Clean and maintain parking lots, decks, and Wolfline bus shelters. Maintain all painted parking spaces, street markings, and curbs under Transportation’s jurisdiction.
- Perform snow and ice removal, debris cleanup, and apply ice-melting products during and after inclement weather.
- Inspect parking areas regularly; report damage or maintenance needs promptly to the supervisor.
- Interact professionally with students, employees, visitors, and vendors, providing excellent customer service and maintaining positive working relationships. Clarify customer requests as needed to ensure tasks are completed accurately.
- Work independently by prioritizing tasks, using available resources effectively, and managing time to complete assignments promptly.
- Provide verbal updates on property conditions, completed work, and upcoming maintenance tasks to supervisors.

Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, 30 min non-paid lunch break
Other Work/Responsibilities
- Driving is required off and on throughout the day to move from one location to another.
- High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

- Skills to identify and inform a supervisor of potential maintenance issues.
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner when dealing with the public to solve issues.

- Knowledge and skills using tools including: paint striper, saws, drills and various hand power tools.
- Knowledge of customer service best practices allowing position to communicate in a professional manner when dealing with the public to solve issues.
