Requirements

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Utility Worker TC-C without more than normal supervision.

You must have the ability to perform the common tasks of a Utility Worker in an industrial setting. You must have the ability to (1) assemble and pass tools; (2) carry tools and equipment to work sites; (3) assist with gathering materials and equipment needed for a job; (4) use hand tools to complete tasks; and (5) clean and store tools and equipment. Your work may performed under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires frequent arm and leg movement to operate equipment; must frequently handle equipment and materials. Frequently lifts and carries equipment and supplies up to, and occasionally over, 45 pounds. Work requires prolonged standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, pushing and kneeling. Is subject to strains from lifting and pulling heavy objects.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done inside and outside. Inside work is often in dim, damp, cold areas. Outside work frequently requires exposure to hot sun and to bad weather. Discomfort is experienced while wearing protective clothing, shoes, respirators, goggles, gloves, or face masks. There is danger from falls when working at heights, i.e., on scaffolding and ladders; injury from use of power and hand tools, danger of electric shock, and danger of drowning. Is subject to cuts, bruises, and is exposed to noise, dust and fumes. Must wear appropriate safety equipment and protective clothing, and successfully complete and maintain all occupational health requirements. Operates and monitors a water treatment plant, distribution and storage system including water treatment processes to ensure water is within prescribed parameters to meet a variety of project needs. Operates all components of a sewage disposal plant. Maintains records and procedures in compliance with state recommendations. Must posses or be able to obtain and maintain the required state Operator Certification and ensure systems' compliance and certification with local, state and federal regulations. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
