Utility Worker II/Lift Stations

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Performs manual tasks involving the maintenance and repairs of pumps and associated equipment within the lift station department under any weather condition. Maintains and lubricates wastewater pumps, operates wastewater cleaning machines, operates pumps and motors, and maintains hoist materials and tools. Maintains property around stations by cutting grass, shrubbery, and filling in cave-ins around stations. Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Must have a valid Louisiana driver's license.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must possess knowledge of standard hand tools, pumps, and equipment in wastewater. Ability to lift and move heavy objects, perform heavy physical work under varying weather conditions, distinguish between colors, and demonstrate physical stamina, manual dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination. Willingness to follow oral and written instructions is required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Employee must obtain a minimum State Class I Certification in Sewer Collections prior to hire and is expected to receive a Class II Certification within one year from hire date.
