Job summary

The City of Pasadena is seeking candidates for a sanitation maintenance role focused on sewer lines and treatment facilities. Responsibilities include excavation, repair, and maintenance tasks using hand tools, plus setting up barricades and working in teams.

The position may require after-hours call-outs and shift work. Applicants should be able to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions and possess a valid Texas driver’s license.

Job description

Duties:

Performs high level of manual tasks involved in the maintenance and construction of sanitary sewer lines and sewage plants. Excavates soil and makes sanitary sewer repairs and connections with various hand tools. Repairs, cleans, and performs maintenance work on sanitary sewer lines. Assembles and disassembles barricades and shoring equipment. Must have the ability to work with co-workers as a team as instructed. May be subject to call out service after hours. Shift work may be required. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record. Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor, including lifting and carrying materials, kneeling, crouching and bending; pushing, pulling and reaching; and standing for prolonged periods of time. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
