Job Summary:
The Utility Worker I – Distribution performs entry-level work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s water distribution system. Work involves assisting with locating, repairing, and replacing water mains, service lines, valves, hydrants, and meters. This position provides hands‑on training and experience for individuals pursuing a career in water utilities and requires frequent outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions and involves exposure to noise, traffic, dirt, water, and heavy equipment. Subject to standing, walking, bending, digging, climbing, reaching, kneeling, and lifting or carrying objects up to 75 pounds. Work requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Employee may be required to respond to emergency callouts, work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary. Work involves interacting with a wide variety of individuals and dealing with potentially stressful situations such as water main breaks or service disruptions.
