Job summary

Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. is seeking a Utility Worker to support various operating districts. This entry-level feeder role involves helping with manual labor, material handling, vehicle operation and basic site maintenance across the service territory.

Candidates must have a high school diploma, be able to lift heavy items, pass a pre-employment physical/drug test, and possess a valid driver’s license. CDL may be required after employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency degree required.
• Must be able to lift and handle heavy materials and work with little supervision.
• Must be fit as evidenced by pre-employment physical and drug test.
• Must be able to perform simple clerical work.
• Valid driver’s license; candidates without a Class A CDL must obtain one upon employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with manual labor tasks in operating districts.
• Handle material, tools and equipment; load/unload trucks.
• Drive cars and trucks as needed.
• Cut grass, brush, ice, and snow; sweep and clean areas.
• Rake, scrape, dig, trench, backfill and perform related labor tasks.
• Operate equipment as required by supervisors and higher classified employees.
