Job summary

LifeSpire of Virginia is seeking a dedicated Utility Worker to support our dining services in Newport News. You will wash and sanitize dishes, maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, and assist in moving equipment and setting up events.

The position operates Sunday through Thursday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, offering a collaborative team environment and opportunities to contribute to residents' wellbeing on a meaningful, mission-driven campus.

Responsibilities

• Washes and sanitizes all dishes, pots and pans, food carts and prep equipment.
• Empties kitchen trash and sanitizes containers as needed.
• Sweeps, mops and foams kitchen floors.
• Maintains cleanliness of walls, floors and kitchen areas.
• Transports food carts to satellite dining rooms within the facility.
• Assists with buffets and special events as needed.
• Supports in cleaning heavy kitchen equipment such as ovens and ranges.

The Utility Worker washes and sanitizes all dishes, pots and pans, and food preparation equipment, empties kitchen garbage and trash. Maintains all equipment, walls, and floors in a clean and sanitary condition. Transports food carts to satellite dining rooms throughout the facility.

Essential Duties

• Washes and sanitizes all dishes, pots and pans, food carts, and food preparation equipment.
• Empties kitchen garbage/trash and sanities containers as needed.
• Sweeps, mops, and foams kitchen floors.
• Maintains cleanliness of all walls in kitchen and serving areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of all floor mats
• Transports food carts to satellite dining rooms throughout the facility.
• Responsible for maintain the cleanliness of all food carts.
• Responsible for maintain a clean and organized dish room.
• Does regular cleaning of heavy kitchen equipment including oven and ranges.
• Assist in moving heavy equipment and furniture when needed.
• Assist in setting up buffets and special functions events.
• Acts as runner backing up food trays and dishes for buffets and special event functions.
• Assist in kitchen when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
