Job summary

The City of Wausau is seeking a dependable Utility Worker to join the Public Works team on second shift. You will work closely with mechanics, assist with equipment and repairs, wash and grease vehicles, operate trucks, and support street operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license. We value a hands-on, physically capable individual who is willing to learn and contribute to city operations.

As a Utility Worker, you'll work alongside our Public Works mechanics, assist with equipment and repairs, wash and grease vehicles and equipment, operate trucks and equipment, support street operations, respond to changing weather and road conditions, and help with snow and emergency operations when needed. It's a behind-the-scenes position that plays an important role in keeping Wausau running. We're looking for someone with a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, a willingness to learn, and the ability to perform physical, hands-on work. Experience operating a dump truck or front-end loader is helpful, but not required. OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Experience operating a dump truck and front end loader preferred.

Ability to use: leaf blower, leaf pusher, floor sweeper, brush chipper, jack hammer, and chain saw.

Ability to perform activities requiring physical effort.

Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (paid training provided).
