The City of Maypearl is hiring a Utility Worker I to perform maintenance, construction, and repair on water, wastewater, and natural gas infrastructure. You will support production, distribution, and treatment operations while helping protect public health and safety under City regulations.

Responsibilities include operating hand and power tools and equipment, working outdoors in all weather, and responding to emergency call-outs.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Working knowledge of machinery, equipment, and hand/power tools.
• Ability to obtain TCEQ Class D Water and TCEQ Class D Wastewater Certifications within the allotted time frame — City training provided.

Position Summary

The Utility Worker I performs technical maintenance, construction, and operations work supporting the City’s water production and distribution system, natural gas distribution system, wastewater treatment plant, and sewer collection system. This position plays a direct role in protecting public health and safety in accordance with federal, state, and City regulations.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform maintenance, construction, and repair work on water, wastewater, and natural gas infrastructure


• Operate hand and power tools, hand-held computer equipment, vehicles, and small equipment


• Walk, bend, stand, and climb ladders; work at heights and use upper-body strength as needed


• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold


• Respond to emergency call-outs and share weekend on-call duty on a rotating basis

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Subject to 24-hour emergency call-out and rotating weekend duty.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to obtain TCEQ Class D Water and TCEQ Class D Wastewater Certifications within the allotted time frame — the City provides training and support toward these certifications
