Job Description

Peterson Cat is seeking a Utility Worker at our Roseburg, OR location.

Summary

The Utility Worker is responsible for cleaning machines, organizing equipment and components in the yard, and performing light maintenance on machines and components used in the heavy equipment industry.

Essential Job Functions

The following are management’s definition of essential functions but are not exhaustive. Management may assign or reassign tasks as needed, including due to reasonable accommodations or other reasons. Other duties may be assigned.

• Clean machines and components to prepare equipment for delivery.
• Operate heavy equipment to and from Service Departments and display areas.
• Organize the Store Front and parking lots, ensuring cleanliness and order.
• Load and unload heavy equipment and attachments from trucks.
• Maintain records and bill of ladings.
• Complete service reports, timecards, and related paperwork.
• Operate lift trucks, overhead cranes, hoists, power tools, and other shop equipment safely.
• Organize work tools for the sales department.
• Keep yard and work areas clean and organized to ensure safety.
• Attend scheduled training and meetings.
• Wear safety gear such as glasses, steel-toed shoes, and overalls in designated areas.
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
• Operate company or personal vehicles as needed.

Additional duties based on location may include:

• Receiving, tracking, and recording machines and attachments for inventory.
• Tagging and scanning machines and attachments, verifying serial numbers.
• Performing shipping/receiving functions, inspecting cargo, and maintaining related records.
• Coding freight bills for processing.

• Installing attachments for sale or demonstration.
• Performing minor preventative maintenance on rental fleet and equipment.
• Delivering parts and running errands as required.

Additional duties based on business unit may include:

• Maintaining cleanliness of shops, offices, and surrounding areas.
• Assisting with shop cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
• Moving disabled vehicles and assisting with shop operations.
• Driving company vehicles for parts pickup or component delivery.
• Keeping work areas organized and performing safety inspections.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least one year of experience as a yard person or utility worker.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience operating heavy machinery preferred.
• Experience with steam cleaning machines preferred.
• Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus but not required.
