Turners Falls Utility Worker
The Utility Worker's primary responsibilities are to safely and efficiently clean and fuel buses, vans, and other company vehicles to provide a clean and safe transit service to passengers. The cleaner will also assist in maintaining bus stops, shelters, signs, and the facility, as well as complete all required paperwork promptly and accurately.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report to the garage on time and pre-inspect tools and equipment.
- Clean and maintain the interior and exterior of the facility.
- Drive buses and other company vehicles safely; employees without a CDL will be restricted to driving buses on the property.
- Inspect, fuel, clean, and add fluids to buses and other vehicles as necessary.
- Coordinate with dispatchers and technicians to ensure bus availability.
- Report any incidents, safety issues, or mechanical deficiencies to the Maintenance Manager.
- Maintain shelters, signs, and bus stop properties, including snow removal and posting schedules.
- Assist in maintaining the facility and grounds, including painting, cleaning, landscaping, and repairs.
- Install new bus stop signs, shelters, or improvements.
- Complete necessary paperwork and run errands such as parts pickup and mail delivery.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Custodial and maintenance experience preferred.
- Current Class D license and ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card.
Physical and Interpersonal Skills:
- Must meet physical, medical, and mobility requirements for operating a commercial vehicle.
- Ability to lift heavy items, bend, squat, and twist into confined spaces.
- Availability for evening, weekend, and snow removal work.
- Excellent communication skills for positive interactions with personnel, public, vendors, and the public.
Work Environment:
Primarily indoor work with outdoor exposure, including weather, fumes, oils, grease, hazards, and occasional night work alone.
Supervision:
Supervised by the Maintenance Manager, FTM, Inc.
