Position: Utility Worker

Department: Operations and Facilities

Days Employed: Per Compensation Manual

Position Summary

• Pick-up and delivery of materials, supplies, equipment, etc.
• Pressure wash the exterior of district facilities and parking lots.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

• Valid Texas Driver's License.

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Experience in using a pallet jack, truck cart, and other moving equipment.
• Experience with pressure washing equipment and chemicals for cleaning.

Major Responsibilities

Utility

• Transport materials and supplies district-wide.
• Pressure wash buildings, parking lots, and other areas as scheduled.
• Perform duties in a craftsman-like manner.
• Repair or replace exterior signage.
• Assist with organization, maintenance, and disposal of surplus furniture and equipment.

Safety

• Operate tools and equipment safely, following procedures.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions.
• Maintain safety of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.

Other

• Transport workers and equipment district-wide.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Use of hand tools, power tools, pressure washers, lifts, trailers, trucks, forklifts.
• Frequent walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting.
• Heavy lifting (50+ pounds).
• Work indoors and outdoors, exposure to weather, noise, biological hazards.
• Work with interruptions, maintain emotional control, communicate effectively.
• Dress code: neat, appropriate, no visible piercings during work hours (except earrings).
