Job summary

Enviva is offering a structured learning and development opportunity at our Wilmington, NC plant to prepare individuals for a future role in operations. This entry‑level trainee position provides hands‑on training in truck receiving, quality checks, and vessel loading.

You will follow safety procedures, gain experience with bulk materials handling, and support the Operations team. This role requires flexibility with shifts and a proactive approach to learning in a demanding industrial

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Follow all workplace and job safety procedures.
  • Receiving: record data, operate shuttle wagon, and keep ramps clean.
  • Quality: collect and test finished goods and maintain records.
  • Vessel loading: ensure docking and loading are performed safely.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Operate forklift and Bobcat to assist in operations.
  • Communicate with Operations and escalate issues as needed.
  • Maintain clean, orderly areas to meet housekeeping standards.
  • Fill in for associates on PTO or leave as needed.

This position provides a structured learning and development opportunity to prepare individuals for successful integration into a specific role within the plant operation. This role will provide hands‑on training to gain knowledge and skills for a future role. This will include training in truck receiving – bulk materials, quality, and vessel loading.


Responsibilities


  • Follow all workplace and job safety procedures

  • Receiving

    • Receive bulk materials – pellets and record data, operator shuttle wagon and keep area ramps clean and free of debris.



  • Quality

    • Collect and test finished goods delivered by truck and or rail, maintain records.



  • Vessel loading

    • Ensure docking, undocking and mooring process is completed safely, ensure vessel is loading correctly using heavy equipment on vessel.



  • Properly complete paperwork

  • Operate mobile equipment (forklift, Bobcat) to assist where needed

  • Communicate with Operations team escalating issues as necessary

  • Keep area clean of accumulated dust and keep areas generally neat and orderly to meet housekeeping standards

  • Other related duties as assigned and serve as back up resources as needed which includes filling in for associates on PTO or leave


Qualifications


  • Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required

Preferred Qualifications – What Will Set You Apart


  • High School diploma or GED

  • Previous work experience in a manual position

  • Mechanical aptitude


Working Conditions


  • Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.

  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment.

  • Work includes high places more than 100 feet, use main lifts and work in confined spaces.

  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.

  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and overnight to address unexpected site issues with or without notice.


Physical Requirements


  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day

  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery

  • Willing and able to pull and lift, up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
