Job summary

The City of Winder is seeking a Utility Worker I to assist in maintaining water and natural gas utilities. Under supervision, you will work as part of a crew performing installation, repairs, and routine maintenance of mains, meters, hydrants, valves, and related equipment.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, six months of utility experience, and a valid Georgia driver's license. Candidates should be reliable, able to work outdoors in varying weather, and willing to overtime or

Qualifications

• Six months of general or specialized construction or water and gas utilities experience.
• Must be able to standby for overtime, including evenings, weekends, or holidays.
• Must pass a detailed background investigation.
• Must be a United States citizen or have legal work status.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of utilities systems.
• Locate and perform maintenance on infrastructure and equipment.
• Operate and maintain city vehicles and tools as assigned.
• Assist with traffic control measures to maintain a safe work site.
• Participate in street cleaning and related city duties.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
