Job summary

The City of Peoria is hiring for a Water Services position. Responsibilities include assisting with installation, maintenance and repair of water distribution systems and servicing related equipment.

The role may require shift work, weekends, holidays, standby, and call back duties. Minimum requirements include high school graduation, plus proof of licenses/certifications such as a valid AZ Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement (within 6 months) and ADEQ Water Distribution certification within one

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalency.
  • Valid Arizona Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire.
  • ADEQ Certification in Water Distribution within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide installation, maintenance and repair work for water distribution systems.
  • Service equipment related to water distribution systems.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Work shift may include weekends, holidays, standby and call back duties.

Education

ADEQ Certification in Water Distribution within one year of hire

Job description

Application Deadline: August 30, 2026 Salary Range: Min $26.28 - Mid $29.40 - Max $32.52.

Department: Water Services

Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: High school graduation or equivalency
  • Physical Demands: A main requirement of the job is physical labor
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid Arizona Class "A" Commercial Driver's License with Tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire
  • Grade I Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Certification in Water Distribution within one year of hire

The purpose of this position is to provide assistance with the installation, maintenance, and repair work of the water systems. This is accomplished by servicing equipment related to water distribution systems. Other duties may include completing related tasks as assigned. Shift work, weekends, holidays, standby duty and call back duty may be required.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
  • Physical stamina and strength to handle manual excavation and perform manual labor as required
  • Motivation and willingness to learn new skills
  • Understanding of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
