Job description

Position Summary:
The utility associate performs a variety of tasks in the food and beverage department including but not limited to dishwashing, trash control, and helping to maintain and clean a safe kitchen environment.

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs dish and pot washing and general cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining room area.
  2. Distributes and stores clean pots, dishes, and utensils.
  3. Cleans and sanitizes production equipment, work surfaces, and kitchen according to cleaning schedules and procedures.
  4. Empties trash containers as required.
  5. Notifies Dir. of Food and Beverage of any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or appliances.
  6. Maintains a clean, organized, and safe kitchen.
  7. Takes ownership for associate’s safety and the safety of the residents.
  8. Discloses any medication that might impair associate’s ability to perform the job safely or competently.

Non-Essential Functions:

  1. Leads by example exhibiting the CORE Values through servant leadership.
  2. Possesses a passion to work with and around senior citizens.
  3. Attends required community meetings and participates in Life Enrichment activities when able.
  4. Completes all required courses in adherence with HRA University.
  5. Becomes familiar and understands the steps for fire evacuation.
  6. All associates are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all community residents.

Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:

  1. Must have a high school education.
  2. Experience in cooking for large groups is a plus.
  3. Knowledge of state food-handling and kitchen regulations preferred.
  4. Knowledge of OSHA Standards and fire and safety procedures preferred.
  5. Knowledge of fire and safety procedures.
