Job summary

The City of Garland is seeking a supervisor for the Field Operations Division to coordinate and assign daily work, ensuring quality and on-time completion. You will maintain communications with supervisors and workers to optimize workflows and safety.

You will oversee crew performance, provide coaching, and contribute to staffing decisions while producing required reports. A GED/HS diploma and several years of related experience are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3 years minimum related experience.
• Up to 1 year in a leadership role or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

Summary Responsible for coordinating and assigning daily work for the Field Operations Division. Also responsible for maintaining communication with supervisors and workers to ensure the completion and quality of assigned duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee and assist crew members in their daily work duties.
• May coordinate and assign daily work duties to staff, as needed.
• Evaluate staff performance, assess training needs and develop improvements to workflow and safety.
• Conduct performance evaluations and coach employees as necessary.
• Review and verify high quality work is completed for every task and provide constructive feedback when changes or enhancements need to be made.
• Provide input to division supervisor regarding hiring, firing and disciplinary actions.
• Complete written reports as required by management.
• Maintain accurate documentation of inventories and office supplies.
• May perform the duties of technicians, as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
• 3 years minimum related experience
• Up to 1 year in a leadership role
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience meter reading and electric utility industry
• 1-2 years in a leadership role
• Experience with Ventyx Banner CIS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Comprehensive knowledge in dispatching
• Extensive knowledge of city street and address systems
• Extensive knowledge of electric/water meter(s) reading
• Extensive knowledge of utility safety procedures and processes
• Extensive knowledge of public contact techniques and principles

Licenses and Certifications
