Job summary

Arizona State University seeks a Skilled Crafts and Trade Assistant 3 to support plumbing and steam piping work across campus facilities. The role emphasizes installing, repairing, and maintaining complex utility piping systems with precision and safety.

You will follow drawings and specifications, operate hand and power tools, and collaborate with other trades to ensure timely maintenance, with work on campus locations including Tempe Main Campus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years related experience.
• Completion of a 4-year technical training program in plumbing or equivalent experience.
• Experience reading plans, drawings, specs and work orders.
• Familiarity with welding standards (ASME/ASTM).
• Knowledge of pumps, boilers, cooling towers and chillers.
• Familiar with plumbing and welding trade tools and materials.
• Awareness of applicable codes and work order systems (TMA).

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain plumbing and piping systems to specifications.
• Locate and repair malfunctioning parts using hand and power tools.
• Inspect components and perform precision work on metals, piping and vessels.
• Work from drawings and specifications to complete tasks.
• Install/maintain steam lines, steam traps and pressure reducing valves.
• Maintain chilled water lines, domestic water and drainage lines.
• Assist other trades as needed and communicate clearly.
