Rough Mill Utility Operator

We have three manufacturing facilities, 12 corporate-owned retail showrooms, and a global distribution network. We have a manufacturing opening for an experienced operator at our Manlius, NY facility.

General Description/Purpose:

The Rough Mill Utility A will provide a high level of service to ensure employee, customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction. The role involves operating various mechanical and computer-aided machines, which requires setting up, running, and conducting basic maintenance of the equipment. The operator may be required to run one or multiple machines. The position involves handling a high volume of product and ensuring dimensional and yield accuracy in the manufacture of furniture parts and pieces.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Identify a variety of wood species products, including Cherry, Mahogany, Oak, Maple, Birch, and Veneers, and make grade-related decisions based on established Stickley standards.
2. Report to the supervisor daily for direction and promptly communicate any questions or problems.
3. Read, comprehend, and fulfill production tickets and print scan tags as needed.
4. Read and interpret part drawings.
5. Inspect parts for quality and dimensional accuracy.
6. Perform preventive maintenance as per maintenance sheets and log all activities, including any machine problems or issues.
7. Set up work in a safe and efficient manner according to specifications, minimizing setup time when no other jobs are scheduled.
8. Assist in off-bearing tasks as needed.
9. Operate assigned machines and equipment to produce required parts and meet production goals.
10. Handle a high volume of production while maintaining quality and dimensional accuracy.
