City of Norfolk in Suffolk, Virginia seeks a Utility Maintenance Mechanic III for the Water Production Division. The role involves electrical and mechanical repairs, installation, diagnosis, and preventive maintenance of water plant equipment.

Responsibilities include repairing air cooled compressors, performing daily and weekly PMs at pump stations, and some electrical work. Requires 5 years' experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic or Electrician, and may require a Journeyman

Qualifications

Five years' experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic or Electrician.
Valid Driver's License.
Journeyman Electrical License may be required depending upon assignment.

Responsibilities

Maintains equipment by major repairs to air cooled compressors and related equipment (including compressors, mowers, weed eaters, blowers, emergency equipment).
Performs daily maintenance on frequently used equipment (minor repairs).
Performs winter maintenance and minor electric work for building maintenance; turns valves to maintain water flow to water plants; conducts weekly/monthly PM at pump stations.
Supervises and oversees repair shop and pump stations in absence of supervisor by handling daily work orders and assigning tasks.
Writes specifications on equipment purchases.
Maintains pipeline raw water easement and locates raw water mains; repairs air valves and assists in applying chemicals to lakes.
