Heath Consultants Incorporated is seeking a Field Technician, Locator in Portland, OR. Join a stable team that detects and marks underground utilities with paid training and a company vehicle where assigned.

Responsibilities include locating gas lines, using detection equipment, marking positions, and ensuring safety. Expect field-heavy work, outdoor conditions, and routine travel across sites with strong teamwork and reliable communication.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
• Have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be reliable and punctual for scheduled assignments.
• Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
• Ability to learn to utilize utility maps, records, and other resources to locate underground utility lines accurately.
• Ability to walk, bend, kneel, and stand outdoors for long periods through varied terrains and conditions.
• Technical Aptitude & familiarity with technology.
• Able to follow directions and maintain safe working habits according to regulations and policies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Prior field technician or local territory/outdoor work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities such as gas lines.
• Operate detection equipment to locate and mark utilities.
• Indicate utility locations using paint and flags.
• Conduct site inspections to identify hazards and ensure safety.
• Utilize mapping tools and location information.
• Prioritize work by reviewing locate requests for routing.
• Drive to sites for routine tickets and emergencies.
• Read maps/prints to identify underground utilities.
• Spend 95% of time in the field with some admin tasks.
