Job summary

Sunrise Telecom Inc is seeking a field-based Utility Locator to identify and mark underground utilities using specialized equipment across job sites. You will locate, interpret maps and GIS data, and ensure precise marking to prevent conflicts and outages.

Responsibilities include operating EM locating devices and GPR as needed, documenting all locates with photos and sketches, coordinating with contractors and project managers, and maintaining equipment while complying with safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or telecommunications preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, prints, and technical documents.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
• Comfortable using technology (tablets, GPS systems, locating equipment).
• Strong communication and time management skills.

• Interpret utility maps, blueprints, and GIS data to ensure accurate locating.
• Utilize electromagnetic locating devices and ground-penetrating radar as needed.
• Clearly mark utility locations using paint, flags, and other approved methods in accordance with industry standards.

• Ability to walk long distances and work on uneven terrain.
