What you'll do:

• Perform visual inspections of predefined construction areas and interpret utility maps to identify underground utilities such as gas, electric, cable TV, telecommunications, sewer, water lines, and street lighting within the construction zone.
• Use laptops or other devices to receive, document, and close excavation notices.
• Read and interpret utility maps/prints to determine the type and size of underground utilities.
• Communicate effectively with excavators, utility representatives, and company personnel regarding underground facilities using assigned communication equipment.
• Operate electronic detection equipment to locate and mark underground utilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
• Perform light excavation with shovels to expose buried utilities when necessary.
• Provide accurate documentation and sketches related to all locates completed.
• Respond to excavation notices promptly, adhering to established timeframes.
• Operate company vehicles safely.
• Perform manhole entries using appropriate equipment and safety devices.

Who we are looking for:

• At least 18 years old
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Minimum of 6 months experience locating underground utilities
• Experience in the Telecommunications or Utility Construction/Maintenance industry
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to operate utility trucks, equipment, and hand tools safely
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, or other construction-related software
• Ability to follow instructions, produce quality work, and maintain safety standards in compliance with regulations
• Effective communication skills with customers and team members
• Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed
• Flexibility to work overtime, after hours, weekends, and in all weather conditions
