What you'll do:

• Perform visual inspections of construction areas and interpret utility maps to locate underground utilities such as gas, electric, cable TV, telecommunications, sewer, water lines, street lighting, and other facilities within predefined construction zones.
• Use laptops or other devices to manage excavation notices, including receiving, documenting, and closing them out.
• Read and interpret utility maps/prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
• Use communication equipment to coordinate effectively with excavators, utility representatives, and company personnel regarding underground facilities.
• Operate electronic detection equipment to locate and mark underground utilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
• Perform light excavation with shovels to expose buried utilities when necessary.
• Provide accurate documentation and sketches related to all locates completed.
• Respond to excavation notices within established timeframes.
• Operate company vehicles safely.
• Perform manhole entries using designated equipment and safety devices.

Who we are looking for:

• At least 18 years old
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Minimum of 6 months experience locating underground utilities
• Experience in the Telecommunications or Utility Construction/Maintenance industry
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to operate utility trucks, equipment, and hand tools safely
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, or other construction-related software
• Ability to follow directions, produce quality work, and maintain safety standards according to regulations
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed
• Availability to work overtime, weekends, and in all weather conditions
