Job summary

Zachry Construction Corporation is seeking a Laborer - Utility to perform physical labor on heavy highway, road, and bridge projects. This role supports cleanup, traffic control setup, and assists other craft workers under supervision.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of relevant construction labor experience, can lift up to 50 lbs, and are willing to work day or night shifts in varying weather conditions. Relocation may be required for ongoing opportunities.

Qualifications

• At least one year of heavy highway, road, concrete, form setting, or bridge construction laborer experience
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, climb, and stand for extended periods
• General labor skills and familiarity with construction environments
• Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools
• Flagging and Traffic Control certification preferred
• Willingness to work days and/or nights and adapt to shift changes
• Physically fit and capable of hard manual labor
• Competency in using a shovel and chipping hammer

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks involving physical labor on construction projects
• Assist concrete, drainage, and retaining wall crews as needed
• Load and unload materials
• Flag traffic near work zones and set up traffic control
• Operate hand and power tools as required
• Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards
• Work in varying weather conditions
• Perform plant labor duties such as shoveling rock and sand and washing dumps
• Enter the mixer to perform chipping as required
