Utility Information Systems Intern (Part-Time)

The City of Winter Haven’s Water Department is in search of a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in operational data management dealing with water, sewer, and reuse infrastructure. This individual will assist with data entry, data analysis, and participate in public education and outreach events. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in environmental science, engineering, public administration, or a related field.

  • $16.80 per hour minimum with annual Step for Performance Pay Adjustments.

The Utility Information Systems Intern supports the Water Department by collecting, entering, and evaluating water, sewer, and reuse infrastructure and operational data. Assist administration department with miscellaneous duties which may include data entry, data analysis, filing records, answering phone calls, updating websites, electronic communications, and relaying messages.

Data Entry: Accurately input water, sewer, and reuse infrastructure data into internal systems. Maintain and update department databases, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.

Data Analysis: Assist in analyzing operational data to identify trends and generate actionable insights. Create reports and visual presentations to support department planning and decision making. Utilize software tools to visualize data and present findings.

Computer System Usage: Operate various computer systems and software applications commonly used in water utility operations. Troubleshoot basic issues and coordinate with IT support as needed.

Public Education and Outreach: Participate in public events that promote water conservation and inform the public about department services. Assist in developing educational materials and engage with the public at outreach events.
