Job summary

Kern Liebers is seeking a diligent custodial associate to support production areas with cleaning, scrapping, and material movement. You will operate a forklift and pallet jack, load and unload materials, and assist with general maintenance.

The role requires standing and lifting up to 50 lbs, with a focus on safety and efficiency in a production environment. This position is full-time and based on-site at our Michigan facility.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Working knowledge of 5S principles.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Able to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
• Must be able to stand, walk and bend for most of the shift.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Some climbing, crawling and/or kneeling may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine custodial work in production areas (sweeping, cleaning, trash removal).
• Removes scrap and refuse; empties waste receptacles; uses cleaning equipment.
• Operates forklift to move scrap and trash.
• Uses company vehicle for pickup and delivery of items.
• Maintains tools and machines; supports other departments as needed.
• Handles material within plant/yard; moves to production and shipping areas.
• Counts, packs, stores, and delivers materials and supplies.
• Performs sorting, quality checks, and backup for break coverage.
• Performs minor maintenance tasks (e.g., changing oil).

• Performs routine custodial work in all the production areas such as sweeping and cleaning, trash removal.
• Removes scrap and refuse. Empties waste receptacles. Uses brooms or hand operated power scrubbing, and vacuuming equipment.
• Uses forklift trucks to remove scrap and trash.
• Uses company vehicle for pick-up and delivery of various items.
• Responsible for the upkeep of tools and machines. Any miscellaneous job as assigned.
• Performs material handling functions which may include loading, unloading or moving material within the plant, yard or work site.
• Counts, packs, stores, handles and delivers materials, supplies, in process and finished goods to production and shipping areas.
• May support production and other departments as needed.
• Performs sorting manually or with automated system, quality checks, basket changes, backup for break coverage to maintain equipment running, etc.
• Performs minor maintenance tasks, for example changing oil.
