Job summary

HBK Engineering, LLC is seeking an Estimator to bridge engineering design and project execution for utility infrastructure projects in Helena, Montana. You will develop cost projections for gas and electric distribution connections, coordinating with engineering and estimating teams from start to finish.

The role requires analyzing drawings, field data, and GIS information to drive accurate estimates, with opportunities for field coordination and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Construction-related background preferred.
• Familiarity with underground electric and natural gas systems or piping systems preferred.
• HBK will provide training for the position.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates and take-offs for subsurface utility projects (natural gas and electricity).
• Analyze drawings, site surveys, and standards to determine labor, material, and equipment requirements.
• Own the estimating phase from project initiation to final cost reconciliation.
• Prepare construction drawings and cost packages using estimating software, Excel models, and GIS platforms.
• Coordinate with field staff and vendors to obtain design information and competitive pricing.
• Manage deadlines and estimating schedules across projects.
