Job summary

The City of Stephenville is seeking a full-time Light Equipment Operator to work under the Utilities Superintendent. Responsibilities include operating a range of maintenance equipment, setting up traffic safety zones, and assisting with water and wastewater line work.

Qualifications require a Texas driver’s license, English communication proficiency, and a High School Diploma or GED. CDL and utility licenses are encouraged with timelines for attainment.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Texas driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDL within six months of employment is preferred (Texas).
• Water/wastewater license within 3 years is the goal.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of equipment including pickups, dump trucks, jet rodding machines, and mowers.
• Respond to service calls, emergencies, or stand-by situations to maintain city services.
• Set up work zones with signs, cones, and barricades; direct traffic as needed.
• Assist in repairing water/wastewater mains, lines, and hydrants; install shoring for trenches.
• Inspect and lay water/wastewater lines; remove obstructions and test for leaks.
• Pull and install meters; replace meter boxes and read water meters.
• Clean streets and work areas after repairs; ensure proper drainage and site cleanliness.
