About the Role:

As the Utility Engineer I, you will be responsible for the inspection and analysis of overhead electrical infrastructure to ensure the accuracy and reliability of utility asset datasets. In this role, you will assist in cataloging utility assets, identifying potential faults and hazards, and contributing to the overall improvement of utility services and reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and catalog overhead utility assets to ensure consistent, high-quality data collection
  • Learn to identify and document electrical utility equipment, faults, and potential hazards
  • Assist in developing and maintaining utility asset datasets to support operational improvements
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment with industry standards
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support safe and efficient project execution
  • Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and best practices to enhance operational effectiveness
  • Participate in training programs to enhance technical knowledge and skill development

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience as a lineman in the electric utility field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills with good written and oral communication abilities
  • Nice-to-have: Working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), national engineering standards, utility construction standards, and best industry engineering practices
  • Excellent organizational skills and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Ability to work remotely and coordinate effectively with a distributed workforce
  • Enthusiasm for learning and applying new technologies within the utility sector

Tools/Technical Environment:

  • GIS software for utility asset mapping and analysis
  • Data management tools for cataloging and reporting
  • Communication platforms for collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders
  • Industry-standard reference materials, including NESC and engineering guidelines
