Job summary

CenterPoint Energy is seeking a skilled Drone Pilot to support electric and natural gas infrastructure inspections via unmanned aerial systems. You will plan flights under FAA Part 107, collect thermal and LiDAR data, and provide analyses to engineering and maintenance teams.

The role requires a Part 107 certification, Level 1 thermography, and at least 2 years of UAS experience. Expect fieldwork in varied weather, with on-site operations in Houston and potential travel.

Qualifications

• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification required.
• Level 1 sUAS Thermography certification required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience operating UAS.
• Experience with thermal imaging, LiDAR, or multispectral sensors.

Responsibilities

• Operate drones to inspect utility infrastructure.
• Plan and execute flight missions under FAA Part 107.
• Collect and analyze aerial imagery and sensor data.
• Provide reports to engineering, GIS, and maintenance teams.
• Maintain flight logs and ensure UAS readiness.
• Train entry-level drone pilots as needed.
• Develop SOPs for drone operations.
