Job Summary:

A Dishwasher is responsible for operating the dishwasher to properly clean all dishes and cooking utensils used in the kitchen, restaurant, and banquets, as well as scrubbing pots and restocking all supplies in the assigned areas. General kitchen cleaning duties include the cleaning and mopping of kitchen floors and trash removal.

Responsibilities:

  1. Washes dishes, pots, pans, and other cooking utensils using the dishwasher or by hand in the 3-compartment sink if necessary.
  2. Restocks all clean glasses, silverware, and plates.
  3. Performs general cleaning in order to stay in compliance with the health department, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and wiping down equipment such as slicers, refrigerators, freezers, hot boxes, ice machines, etc.
  4. Puts away foodstuffs and dry goods in their proper location, rotating first in, first out.
  5. Puts away all supplies and chemicals in their proper location.
  6. Informs supervisor when the kitchen is running low on necessary items, especially chemicals and supplies used in the dish area.
  7. Assists with food preparation, plating, garnishing, etc. as needed.
  8. Removes trash from all containers, taking it to the dumpster located on the loading dock.
  9. Removes all recyclables from the kitchen and disposes of them appropriately; cardboard should be broken down and put in the cardboard bin, glass placed in the glass bin, etc.
  10. Clears trash receptacles, recycling containers, and other waste containers as needed to prevent odors and pest infestation.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

  1. Ability to work in confined spaces.
  2. Ability to work while standing for extended periods of time.
  3. Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.
  4. Sufficient manual dexterity to load and unload the dishwasher, handle all sorts of kitchen equipment, knives, slicing blades, etc.
