Utility/Dish Steward - The Westin Raleigh-Durham Airport

Job Summary:

A Dishwasher is responsible for operating the dishwasher to properly clean all dishes and cooking utensils used in the kitchen, restaurant, and banquets, as well as scrubbing pots and restocking all supplies in the assigned areas. General kitchen cleaning duties include cleaning and mopping of kitchen floors and trash removal.

Responsibilities:

  • Washes dishes, pots, pans, and other cooking utensils using the dishwasher or by hand in the 3-compartment sink if necessary.
  • Restocks all clean glasses, silverware, and plates.
  • Performs general cleaning in order to stay in compliance with the health department including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and wiping down equipment such as slicers, refrigerators, freezers, hot boxes, ice machines, and the like.
  • Puts away foodstuffs and dry goods in their proper location, rotating first in, first out.
  • Puts away all supplies and chemicals in their proper location.
  • Informs supervisor when the kitchen is running low on necessary items, especially chemicals and supplies used in the dish area.
  • Assists with food preparation, plating, garnishing, etc. as needed.
  • Removes trash from all containers and takes it to the dumpster located on the loading dock.
  • Removes all recyclables from the kitchen and disposes of them appropriately; cardboard broken down and put in the cardboard bin, glass placed in the glass bin, etc.
  • Cleans trash receptacles, recycling containers, and other waste containers as needed to prevent odors and pest infestation.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work while standing on your feet for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to load and unload the dishwasher, handle all sorts of kitchen equipment, knives, slicing blades, etc.

Please be aware that you may be asked to complete other tasks in the kitchen to ensure that the kitchen operates smoothly, safely, and cleanly, and to minimize any impact for our guests.
