Job description

Are you a self-motivated professional looking to make a significant impact on complex infrastructure projects? As a Utility Coordinator, you will play a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of a major roadway project by coordinating utility relocation and construction activities with utility companies, contractors, designers, and project teams. In this role, you will help ensure utility work is properly planned, scheduled, and executed to support overall project milestones and minimize impacts to construction operations. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will track utility progress, facilitate communication, resolve conflicts, and help ensure all utility activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project requirements and schedules.

The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a 50/50 joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA. Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and key bridge refurbishments. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Coordinate with utility companies, contractors, design teams, and project management staff to support utility relocation and installation activities for a major roadway project.
  • Track utility design, permitting, relocation, and construction schedules to ensure alignment with overall project milestones and construction phasing.
  • Facilitate communication between utility owners and project stakeholders to resolve conflicts, scheduling issues, and field coordination challenges.
  • Review utility plans, relocation drawings, and construction documents to identify potential conflicts with roadway, drainage, structural, and other infrastructure components.
  • Support and promote strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment, worksite safety, and documentation requirements, and recommend training needs identified on jobsite.
  • Supervise sub-contractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work, recommending work schedule or work method adjustments as needed.
What We Are Looking For
  • 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience required.
  • 3+ years construction management experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree a plus.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local union or prevailing wage rules, if applicable.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract specific plans and specifications.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
