Job summary

Eland Engineering, a GAI Consultants company, is seeking a Utility Contract Specialist to work out of our Ft. Lauderdale, FL office.

The successful candidate will have 2–4 years of related experience and a minimum requirement of a high school diploma from an accredited high school. Responsibilities include locating underground utilities, coordinating with project managers, and supporting ITS devices installation and maintenance.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of related experience
• High school diploma from an accredited high school; technical coursework preferred

Responsibilities

• Identify underground location and delineate/mark utilities per requests from project staff.
• Locate cables and utilities including fiber optic and power for ITS underground utilities.
• Meet with Utility Locates Requesting Party in the field as needed to supplement marking ITS utilities.
• Assist ITS Maintenance technician and electrician in installing, maintaining, and repairing ITS devices.
• Respond to emergency utility locate tickets as requested by Vendor Project Supervisor/Project Manager or designer.
• Document and photograph the work performed on utility locating and daily activities.

Job description

Eland Engineering, a GAI Consultants company, is looking for a Utility Contract Specialist to work out of our Ft. Lauderdale, FL office location. The successful candidate will have had 2-4 years of related experience and a minimum requirement of a high school diploma from an accredited high school.

Job Responsibilities

• Identifying the underground location and delineating and marking on the ground of existing utilities, per the requests from Sunshine State One Call, Vendor Project Supervisor, or FDOT Project Manager or designer.
• The utility locates shall include, but not limited to, fiber optic cables, power cables, composite cables that constitute Department ITS underground utilities.
• The utility locator shall also meet with Utility Locates Requesting Party as necessary in the field to supplement marking ITS utilities.
• Whenever available, the utility locator shall assist the ITS Maintenance technician and electrician in performing the installing, maintaining, and repairing ITS devices.
• The utility locator shall be able to respond to emergency utility locate ticket(s) as per requested by Vendor Project Supervisor and/or Department's Project Manager or designer.
• The utility locator shall document and photograph the work performed on all utility locating and daily activities.

Experience and Education

• 2-4 years of related experience
• High school diploma from an accredited high school. Technical coursework in related field is preferred.
