Job summary

Black Hills Energy is seeking a Construction Planner in Fayetteville, AR to design, estimate and manage residential and commercial customer construction projects. You will set up customer accounts, apply tariffs accurately and dispatch work orders for timely completion.

Position summary:

Design, estimate and manage the construction activities for basic residential and commercial customer construction services. Complete forms, design services, dispatch work orders, assist customers with developing Service Request tool profiles, and create customer accounts when applicable. Ensure that customer accounts are set up accurately and that tariffs are consistently applied.

Pay Range:

$25.72 - $38.44 per hour (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)

Essential Functions:
  • Review job types/work in Service Request tool and assign appropriately.
  • Utilize various computer programs to prepare estimates and design basic electric or gas construction projects including but not limited to new services, maintenance (including service line replacements and retirements) and third-party damage repairs.
  • Ensure the successful closure of projects, maintaining a high standard of accuracy throughout the process.
  • Ensure that all work on assigned projects is planned so that construction can be accomplished in a timely and efficient manner. Enter and dispatch orders in system to be scheduled.
  • Effectively communicate company construction policies and procedures to customers and collaborate with them to best satisfy needs.
  • Provide backup for Utility Construction Planners on work order preparation, customer contact, technical assistance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to schedule customer construction projects, ensuring maximum satisfaction of customer needs. Coordinate efforts with customers, internal field crews, and contractors.
  • Ensure that electric or gas construction follows company and industry codes and standards.
  • Ensure accurate mapping of facilities and approving Digital As-Builts.
  • Code and approve construction job invoices, within applicable states.
  • Create, monitor, and follow up on work orders related to third-party damages.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Promote culture of safety, compliance, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Perform and manage special projects that may be assigned.
  • Provide support to other areas of the Company as requested or assigned including the assistance with storm restoration as needed.
What Is Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of utility environment, construction environment or relevant experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • This role will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.
