Qualifications

Utility Cleaner - Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling

Utility Cleaners are responsible for maintaining cleanliness in communal spaces, restrooms, workspaces, and outside areas as assigned. Duties include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, polishing surfaces and floors, removing trash, restocking supplies, and cleaning restrooms.

Salary

$30.57/hr plus employer-paid health benefits and pension!

Key Responsibilities
  1. Mop tile and concrete floors; vacuum carpets
  2. Sweep, dust, scrub, wax, buff, and strip floors as needed
  3. Clean and disinfect restrooms, including urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, fixtures, and showers
  4. Clean and disinfect breakrooms and kitchens, including tables, sinks, counters, and refrigerators
  5. Empty waste baskets and garbage cans; dispose of trash outside
  6. Dust furniture, equipment, blinds, and light fixtures
  7. Clean mirrors and interior windows, and surrounding areas
  8. Maintain entrances and exits, removing marks and debris
  9. Clean and disinfect drinking fountains
  10. Report damage, vandalism, and perform minor repairs
  11. Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers and vacuums
  12. Refill soap, paper towels, and toilet paper dispensers
  13. Use chemicals safely and according to instructions
  14. Store supplies safely and maintain adequate stock
  15. Move or rearrange furniture as needed
  16. Follow safety rules and regulations
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned
Essential Skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, and equipment
  • Understanding of the Hazardous Materials Information System
  • Ability to read instructions and labels on cleaning products
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Secret clearance required
  • At least 1 year of custodial experience in the last three years, including floor care (stripping, waxing, buffing)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Dependable attendance
  • U.S. citizenship for access to military installations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Top Secret clearance
Physical Requirements
  • Lift, push, pull up to 40 pounds
  • Handle objects, bend, reach above shoulders
