Job summary

ZIEHL-ABEGG is hiring a Utility Assembly Technician in Winston-Salem, NC. This hands-on role involves pre-assembly and final assembly of industrial fan components, reading technical drawings, assembling parts, and performing quality inspections.

You will use hand tools and measuring instruments, follow 6S and safety standards, and collaborate with engineering and production teams. A high school diploma and basic mechanical skills are required; lifting up to 75 lbs and standing for long periods

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand/power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and measurement tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Good teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production environments.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or 5S principles.
  • Basic electrical or mechanical troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings, BOMs, and work instructions for ventilation unit components.
  • Assemble stator and rotor components according to drawings and procedures.
  • Follow all ESD protocols, including wrist straps, mats, and grounding techniques.
  • Use hand tools, torque tools, and measuring instruments for precise assembly.
  • Conduct visual and functional inspections to ensure quality standards.
  • Identify and report defects or deviations to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area per 6S and safety policies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams for efficient workflow.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Utility Assembly Technician
Your main responsibilities will be:
Pre-Assembly Duties
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and work instructions for ventilation unit components.
  • Assemble stator and rotor components according to detailed work instructions, technical drawings, and established procedures
  • Follow all ESD protocols, including proper use of wrist straps, mats, and grounding techniques
  • Use hand tools, torque devices, and measuring instruments to perform accurate and safe pre-assembly tasks
  • Conduct visual and functional inspections of completed units to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Identify and report product defects, equipment issues, or process deviations to appropriate personnel
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with company policies, 6S principles, and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to support efficient workflow and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Final Assembly Duties
  • Assemble various industrial fan products in accordance with detailed work instructions, technical drawings, and established procedures.
  • Use hand tools, torque tools, and measuring instruments to perform precise assembly tasks.
  • Conduct visual and functional inspections of completed units to ensure compliance with quality standards.
