American Sugar Refining in Buffalo, NY seeks a 2nd shift Utility to pack brown, powdered, and private label sugar. The role offers a 24/5 operation with multiple shift options, overtime opportunities, and a quarterly bonus program.

Responsibilities include packing finished goods, inspecting seals and dates, maintaining area cleanliness, assisting operators, labeling boxes, and adhering to HACCP and safety standards in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work 12 hour shifts as scheduled.
• Must understand verbal and written English.
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Responsabilités

• Pack finished goods into cases, place onto pallet.
• Check bags/boxes for quality issues (back seal, end seals, production date code).
• Maintain cleanliness of production area around the line.
• Open re-work and handle returned product as needed.
• Assist machine operator and learn basic operations to stop/start machine.
• Label boxes as necessary.
• Understand edible vs non-edible products.
• Assist in cleaning the plant and HACCP program adherence.
• Be vigilant for product contamination and report issues.

OVERVIEW

2nd shift Utility

This position is responsible for packing brown, powdered, and private label sugar (1, 2, 7, 50 Ib. bags).

PAY RATE

• Starting rate at 19.00/hour

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Pack finished goods into cases, place finished case onto pallet (must be able to lift 50 lbs.).
• Check individual packages for quality issues:
  • Back seal
  • End seals
  • Production date code both on bags and boxes
  • Bags and boxes are the same item
• Maintain cleanliness of production area around assigned production line.
• Open re-work, both daily and returned product when necessary.
• Assist machine operator as needed (changing poly, learn basic operations to stop/start machine in event of problems).
• Label boxes as necessary.
• Must know the difference between edible and non-edible products.
• Assist in the cleaning of the plant as required.
• Must understand the basics of the Metal Detectors in terms of rejected bag handling and the basics of the HACCP program.
• Be vigilant for any product contamination and report any contamination or otherwise dangerous issues to line operator or shift supervisor.
• Assist in the plant when needed
• Other duties as assigned

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Prior packaging experience is preferred but not required

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• HS Diploma or GED preferred but not required
