Job summary

Continental Services in Detroit, MI is seeking a full-time Utility Team Member to support back-of-house operations. You will collect used dishes, load dishwashers, and keep the area clean. The role requires shift work, including occasional evenings or weekends, to help deliver a seamless dining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collect used kitchenware from dining and kitchen areas.
  • Load and unload dishwashing machines.
  • Wash items by hand when needed (pots, boards, delicate items).
  • Store clean pots, pans, dishes and utensils.
  • Ensure enough clean dishes and utensils during peak hours.
  • Maintain cleaning supplies and report issues.
  • Check machines and report any problems.
  • Remove garbage regularly and sanitize surfaces.

Compensation: $18.00 / hour

Description

A Utility Team Member responsibilities include collecting used dishes, plates and utensils, loading dish washing machines and stacking washed items appropriately. In addition, collecting garbage, sweeping, mopping and upkeep of the overall cleanliness of the facility inside and out. If you want to kick start your career in the restaurant industry and be part of the behind-the-scenes operations, we’d like to meet you. Note that this role requires working in shifts and, occasionally, during evenings or weekends. Ultimately, you’ll help provide an unforgettable dining experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collect used kitchenware from dining and kitchen areas
  2. Load and unload dishwashing machines
  3. Wash specific items by hand (e.g. wooden cutting boards, large pots and delicate china)
  4. Store clean pots, pans, dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately
  5. Ensure there are always enough clean pots, pans, dishes, glasses and utensils, especially during peak hours
  6. Maintain cleaning supplies stock (e.g. detergents) and notify supervisor when necessary
  7. Check washing machines’ operation and promptly report any technical/performance issues
  8. Remove garbage regularly
  9. Sanitize the kitchen area, including the floor, walls, doors and handles
