Job summary

Pulice seeks a Superintendent to lead construction projects in San Antonio, TX. You will plan methods, schedules and resources, coordinate with crews, engineers and utilities, and ensure adherence to contract drawings and safety standards.

This role emphasizes forecasting, risk management, and subcontractor oversight on complex heavy civil projects. The ideal candidate has 8+ years in heavy civil construction, 5+ years in construction management, and a safety-focused mindset.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of heavy civil construction experience
  • 5+ years construction management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree a plus
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and enforcing safety programs
  • Knowledge of local union or prevailing wage rules, if applicable
  • Ability to read/interpret standards and contract plans/specs
  • Ability to apply fractions/percentages/ratios in practical situations

Responsibilities

  • Plan work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule; review daily schedule with direct reports and update weekly schedule
  • Review project specs; coordinate with crews, field engineers and utilities to identify hazards
  • Coordinate with equipment team and vendors to ensure equipment and materials meet budget and schedule
  • Forecast the work schedule; identify issues and provide scheduling recommendations
  • Provide input to identify and resolve project risks; document daily activities and meetings
  • Support and promote safety and process controls; identify training needs on site
  • Supervise subcontractor production and adjust schedules/methods as needed

Overview

As a Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our construction projects. Your expertise in scheduling, coordinating, and supervising production and workforce will ensure that every task is executed seamlessly and efficiently.

Collaborate with industry experts and committed teams to ensure project compliance with contract drawings and specifications.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Plan work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule for assigned project work. Reviews daily work schedule with direct reports and updates weekly schedule from project feedback.
  • Review and understands the project specifications to support job set up activities. Works with work crews, field engineers and local utility companies to identify hazardous areas on job site.
  • Coordinate with internal equipment team and external vendors to ensure that project work is equipped with appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule.
  • Forecast the work schedule to identify possible issues and provides technical or scheduling recommendations to mitigate production issues.
  • Provide technical input to identify and resolve project risks including construction methods, work plan and material requirements, safety and schedule activities. Documents daily activities and meeting notes using Company approved document methods.
  • Support and promotes strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment, worksite safety and documentation requirements. Responsibility includes recommending training needs identified on jobsite.
  • Supervise sub-contractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work. Recommends work schedule or work method adjustments regarding sub-contractor activities.
Who You Are
  • 8+ years of heavy civil construction experience required.
  • 5+ years construction management experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree a plus.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract specific plans and specifications.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
