Job summary

FlatironDragados in Pinehurst, NC seeks an experienced Superintendent to lead heavy civil construction efforts on complex projects. You will plan work, manage schedules, supervise crews and coordinate with engineers, utilities and vendors to keep work on track.

The role demands strong leadership, exceptional communication, and a proven ability to enforce safety programs while delivering on time and within budget. Candidates with STS certification are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule for assigned project work.
• Review daily schedules with direct reports and update monthly project schedule.
• Review project specs to support setup; coordinate with field crews, engineers and utilities to identify hazards.
• Coordinate with internal equipment teams and external vendors to ensure proper equipment and quantities within budget and schedule.
• Forecast schedules and provide recommendations to mitigate production issues.
• Provide input to identify project risks and document daily activities and meeting notes.
• Support adherence to safety and process controls on site.
• Supervise sub-contractor production and workforce; adjust schedules as needed.

Job description

Are you an experienced leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality results. As a Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our construction projects. Your expertise in scheduling, coordinating, and supervising production and workforce will ensure that every task is executed seamlessly and efficiently.

Collaborate with industry experts and committed teams to ensure project compliance with contract drawings and specifications.

What You Will Be Doing

• Plan work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule for assigned project work. Reviews daily work schedule with direct reports and updates monthly schedule from project feedback.
• Reviewsand understands the project specifications to support job set up activities. Works with work crews, field engineers and local utility companies to identify hazardous areas on job site. Working with multiple job sites and multiple project plans, when necessary.
• Coordinate with internal equipment team and external vendors to ensure that project work is equipped with appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule.
• Forecast the work schedule to identify possible issues and provides technical or scheduling recommendations to mitigate production issues.
• Provide technical input to identify and resolve project risks including construction methods, work plan and material requirements, safety and schedule activities. Documents daily activities and meeting notes using Company approved document methods.
• Support and promotes strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment, worksite safety and documentation requirements.
• Supervise sub-contractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work. Recommends work schedule or work method adjustments regarding sub-contractor activities, as needed.

What We Are Looking For

• 15+ years of heavy civil construction experience required.
• 7+ years construction management experience required.
• Bachelor's Degree a plus.
• Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills required.
• Strong leadership capability with internal drive to mentor and grow internal talent.
• Proven ability to manage difficult schedules and project demands while maintaining strict adherence to project safety program.
• Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.
• Knowledge and understanding of local union or prevailing wage rules.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract specific plans and specifications.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
