Job Summary

The Utilities Station Operator I provides skills for theoperation and maintenance of various utility equipment and systems.The position assists with repairs, adjustments, and ongoingmaintenance of facilities. The role performs maintenance andrepairs of fixtures and equipment on University premises.

Core Responsibilities

1. Ensures that uninterrupted utility services are rendered andtimely emergency responses.
2. Operates and maintain systems and equipment that provideutilities and steam control environmental conditions.
3. Monitors and responds to life safety system alarms, emergencyconditions, security alarms and related requirement to include firealarms, emergency power and others.
4. Monitors and performs minor utility adjustments throughbuilding automation systems.
5. Performs building and system maintenance duties such as filterreplacement, fume hood operation and dormitorymaintenance.
6. Responds to all campus emergencies, such as electrical outages,gas leaks, water main/line breaks, and others.
7. Performs duties related to energy management, conservation andrelated such as lighting controls and coordination withTEP.
8. Assists with special events and contractors supportduties.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Vocational Training or Apprenticeship in arelated field.
• One (1) year of related work experience.
• Current valid driver's license.
• This position may require the ability to maintain the securityand integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per TexasEO-GA-48.

Working Conditions

• Control room/office environment (conditioned space) and fieldenvironment (dust, dirt, noise, restricted space, extremetemperatures). Exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards,hazardous chemicals, high pressure water and air systems, highspeed equipment, confined spaces, and heights. Exposure to variableTexas weather conditions.

Physical Demands

• Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally,and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 poundsof force constantly to move objects. Regularly required to stand,walk, use hands to feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk orhear. This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
