Job Summary

The Facility Control Tech Leader provides technical support inthe field of electronic, pneumatic, HVAC building automationcontrols, security, fire, and energy management systems.

Core Responsibilities

1. Installs, oversees the maintenance, modifications, and repairsof electronic, pneumatic, HVAC building automation controls,security, fire, energy management systems, and other relatedsystems.
2. Ensures the comfort and safety of the University environment byassisting and ensuring the operation/integrity of energy managementand related communications systems to include installing andmodifying HVAC building automation controls, security, fire,laboratory and fume hood controls; upgrading or modifying campussystems to provide current code compliance; and lead introubleshooting and repairs of control systems; and maintainsoftware updates and associated hardware with building automationcontrol systems; and upgrades or modifies systems to providecurrent code compliance.
3. Supervises Facilities Control Technicians and Technicalassistants to include prioritizing and delegating work assignments;and coordinating work of/with outside contractors.
4. Supports development and updates of engineeringdocuments/drawings for new and retrofit projects associated withHVAC building automation controls, security, and firesystems.
5. Maintains adequate inventory of equipment and maintain recordsto ensure.

Working Conditions

• Indoor and outdoor construction environments. Exposure tomechanical and electrical hazards, hazardous chemicals, highpressure water and air systems, high speed equipment, confinedspaces, and heights. Exposure to variable Texas weather conditionsand/or physical hazards such as working in elevate and confinedspaces; working in attics, sub-floors, machine rooms, on roofs, andother operational areas. Exposure may be prolonged. Exposure tovarious mechanical, electrical, laboratories, and other universityspaces. Exposure to variety of construction and physical planthazards including medium voltages (15KV), confined space, elevatedheights, dust & dampness, high noise levels, outside weatherand energized equipment & systems. Exposure to potentialoccupational hazards including toxic, biological, and chemicalhazards within certain laboratory spaces. Exposure to elevatedlevel of noise. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment whenneeded, to include: steel toe or non-slip shoes, eye protection,hardhat, back belt, body harness, biological protective gear, earmuffs or plugs, respirator, and arc flash protection. Must wear andproperly maintain uniforms. Required to be on stand-by call status,carrying pager, cell phone or two-way radio as assigned and respondto afterhours emergency calls. Required to be on stand-by callstatus for overtime, evenings, after hours, odd hours, shift work,weekends, and/or holidays as needed. Flexibility in scheduling maybe required.

Physical Demands

This position will work primarily on campus.Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
