Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to operate and maintain utility equipment across campus buildings under direct supervision. You will manage air compressors, pumps, HVAC systems and water conditioning equipment to ensure reliable service.

You will perform water testing, minor plumbing and electrical maintenance, and document all service actions. The role may require shift coverage and offers opportunities for advancement through training.

Qualifications

Job description

Under direct supervision, responsible for the operation and maintenance of utility equipment in the institution's buildings.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates air compressors, fans, pumps, hot water converters, pressure reducing stations, air delivery systems, thermostats, and water conditioning equipment in the institute facilities.
• Maintains heating and air conditioning equipment to include cleaning coils, replacing air filters, troubleshooting control circuits and repairing pumps.
• Performs water testing, analysis, and documentation on utility systems.
• Performs minor plumbing and electrical maintenance on equipment and building and plant utility systems.
• Performs pipe fitting, painting, housekeeping, and other miscellaneous tasks and logs service provided.
• May be required to fill in for absent shift personnel.
• Trains for higher level positions.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, operations, repair, and maintenance (HVAC, electrical, steam).
• Ability to interpret and follow instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading).
• Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
• Ability to comply with institutional and job specific safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to communicate in a courteous, pleasant and professional manner.

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or GED is required.

LICENSES:

• Valid TX driver's license is required - must have a clear driving record.

Required Skills

• One (1) year of related experience required, or six (6) months experience working in a comparable Health Thermal Energy Plant environment.

This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Benefits Overview

Time Off - A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:

• Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
• Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
• Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
• Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
