Job summary

Manatee County Government seeks a seasoned security and safety professional to lead the Communications and Safety Division in Bradenton, Florida. The role oversees vulnerability assessments, policy development, and complex safety programs, with budget responsibility and grant coordination.

You will supervise staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate across utilities and departments to enhance public safety and security across county facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, industrial safety, management, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years' work experience managing security and safety programs.
• Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations desired.
• Possession of Law Enforcement certification or State of Florida Security Guard License, or must obtain within eighteen months of employment.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Effectively applies knowledge of vulnerability assessment, hazard analysis, and safety management.
• Develops and administers a comprehensive long-range security plan and budget.
• Develops specifications and service contracts for security services and oversees contractor performance.
• Reviews operations for safety conformance and acts as Safety Liaison to the Risk Management Department.
• Investigates grants and funding to support security programs; writes technical reports and regulations.
