Air Liquide Geismar, LA is hiring a Utilities Production Technician to support water plant operations. The role emphasizes safety, equipment knowledge, and collaboration with maintenance teams to ensure reliable production of industrial gases and energy solutions.

The technician will perform rounds, sample collection, and operate control systems, while maintaining strict safety and record-keeping practices in a 12-hour rotating shift environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays.
• Follow plant safety rules and procedures consistently.
• Read/interpret blueprints, P&IDs, ISOs and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding of plant safety rules and company safety policies.
• Models safe safety practices and works safely in all situations.
• Identifies maintenance needs and logs them in Maximo.
• Performs work per SOPs and safety requirements including permits and lock-out/tag-out.
• Ensures compliance of contractors and visitors with safety policies.
• Acquires knowledge of plant operations including processes and equipment.
• Exhibits instrumentation and mechanical aptitude.
• Learns procedures, reads blueprints and electrical schematics; performs basic math.
• Maintains accurate documentation and records.
• Operates control boards and operator interfaces.
• Performs operator rounds, water samples, truck loading, PMs.
• Maintains high housekeeping and organization standards.

Location: Geismar, LA - 36183 LA Hwy (Utilities) - Water plant

Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Job Responsibilites:

• Demonstrates an overall understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures.
• Instills safety in others by being safety minded; models good safety practices.
• Works safely in all situations.
• Identifies potential maintenance needs; enters them into the work order maintenance management system (Maximo).
• Performs all work in compliance with standard operating and maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety -Training skills and safety requirements including, safe work permits, energy control isolation and IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc.
• Ensures contractors, visitors, co-workers and others comply with company safety policies/procedures. Issues safe work permit documentation and performs lock-out tag-out of equipment.
• Acquires knowledge/ability in all plant operations including processes and equipment.
• Exhibits some instrumentation and mechanical aptitude.
• Learns and follows standard operating procedures, corporate procedures; read and interpret blueprints, flow charts, process piping ISOs, simple schematics, P & IDs, electrical schematics; perform basic math operations.
• Keeps accurate records and be diligent in documentation and record retention policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge/understanding of control board and operator interface computer consoles.
• Perform operator rounds, water samples, truck loading, operations PM's.
• Maintain and expect high housekeeping and organizational standards

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours as business needs dictate.
• Ability to fill in for vacations/emergency shift relief coverage as situations warrant.
• Overall understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, company safety policies/procedures.
• Performs all work in compliance with standard operating/maintenance procedures utilizing current safety requirements including Lockout/Tagouts, safe work permits, energy control isolation, IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc
• Ability to communicate with written/spoken.
• Acquiring knowledge/ability in all plant operations including processes/equipment.
• Understanding of governmental regulations including environmental permitting/compliance, loading /quality assurance, basic electricity, national/local operating procedures, CMMS, maintenance management process, all HSE issues associated with the facility.
• Mechanical aptitude: Ability to learn/follow national/local standard operating procedures; follow through on instructions; work with minimal supervision; read/interpret blueprints, flow charts, process piping ISOs, schematics, P&IDs, electrical schematics; perform basic math operations.
• Basic knowledge/understanding of control board, operating off of operator interface consoles (computer) Basic computer (PC) skills; ability to use required software computer applications.
