Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical Associate degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of technical training or operations experience.
  • Ability to work extended hours, night shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping systems.
  • Familiar with plant safety regulations and PPE requirements.
  • Experience with Maximo is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate start-up and shut-down of Air Separation Unit and Nitrogen Generators.
  • Carry out daily needs for safe work permits and lockout/tagout requests.
  • Follow SOPs and safety procedures; maintain records and documentation.
  • Enter maintenance needs into Maximo and track work orders.
  • Perform operator rounds, water samples, and product loading as required.
  • Maintain high housekeeping and organize work area efficiently.
  • Coordinate with contractors, visitors and coworkers on safety policies.

We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. The Production Technician will be responsible for operations of start-up and shut-down Air Separation Unit, Nitrogen Generators and High Purity Oxygen compressors. The technician will also carry out daily needs for safe work permits and lockout tagout request.

  • Demonstrate an overall understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures.

  • Instill safety in others by being safety minded; models good safety practices.

  • Work safely in all situations.

  • Identify potential maintenance needs; enter them into the work order maintenance management system (Maximo).

  • Perform all work in compliance with standard operating and maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety Training skills and safety requirements including safe work permits, energy control isolation and IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc.

  • Ensure contractors, visitors, co-workers and others comply with company safety policies/procedures. Issues safe work permit documentation and performs lock-out tag-out of equipment.

  • Acquire knowledge/ability in all plant operations including processes and equipment.

  • Exhibit instrumentation and mechanical aptitude.

  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), corporate procedures; read and interpret flow charts, process piping ISOs, simple schematics, P&IDs, electrical schematics; perform basic math operations.

  • Keep accurate records and be diligent in documentation and record retention policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrate knowledge & understanding of control board and operator interface computer consoles.

  • Perform operator rounds, water samples, truck loading, operations PM's.

  • Maintain and expect high housekeeping and organizational standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Management

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required;

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Associates degree preferred

  • 3+ years of technical training or operations experience

  • Ability to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and possibly holidays in order to meet shift and on-call requirements.

  • Ability to be locked in at site for abnormal weather conditions

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Knowledge/understanding of instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping systems.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (EPA regulations, FDA regulations, state/local regulations).

  • Ability to use computers-knowledge of Google office software.

  • Ability to work in a team environment; demonstrated self motivated attitude.

  • Good verbal/written communication skills in order to deal effectively with management and external customers.

  • Qualified in operation of the forklift, man lift and overhead crane is preferred.

  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.

  • Must be able to wear required PPE safety equipment including, hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, 4-GAS monitor, and FRC clothing

  • Full range of motion; ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Able to climb ladders, work off elevated platforms/surfaces

  • Able to work in non-conditioned environment for extended periods

  • Able to enter confined spaces for inspection, testing and work

  • Be comfortable working along on nights and weekends (1-man shift enviornment)
